What’s a typical day at PCH like for you?
My day consists of making sure that our staff, participants and families have what they need to make it a great day! I engage with staff to make sure that our friends receive the person-centered care they need and the love and respect they deserve. I visit with our friends and their families to find out what we can do to help them smile and laugh more. We especially want to make our participants feel loved and hopeful on their particular life journey. I embrace doing whatever it takes to help everyone know how much they mean to so many!
What do you love about your job?
There are so many things I love about my job. It sustains a peace in me, that there is so much more to life than we can see, feel, and know. Our friends here have shown me how to live in the moment and simply be – something I’ve always found extremely difficult to do. They’ve taught me how life and happiness really do come down to a kind word or a simple smile, those little invaluable reminders that you matter, you have value, and you are loved.
What do you want others to know about PCH?
It can be best summed up by stealing this quote: “Family isn’t always blood. It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what.”
Tell us about your family and any hobbies.
I am blessed with an amazing family! My husband and three children truly inspire me to be better everyday. We love doing simple things: enjoying a good laugh, the outdoors, family movie night, and music of all genres – especially classic 70’s and 80’s.
